ABOUT

Celia Morgan is a Black-British screenwriter who grew up in Birmingham, spent 15 years in London and is now based in Glasgow. After gaining a Masters Degree in Writing for Stage & Broadcast Media at Central School of Speech & Drama, Celia went on to work in scripted development and now works predominantly as a screenwriter.

Celia is passionate about telling stories that give authentic insight into worlds and people that we don’t see very often on British TV screens. Her writing often has a sense of playfulness alongside challenging themes.

Celia is a multi-genre writer who is gifted at writing colourful, moreish characters that audiences will want to revisit.

With regard to broadening representation of marginalised groups on screen, Celia says…

“I don’t believe anyone wants to put negative stereotypes on TV, yet it does still happen. To counter that, my writing focusses on positive, engaging and relatable representation.

“Some of the most interesting stories come from lesser seen perspectives. For me, diversity isn’t a box ticking exercise, it’s life. And it’s beautiful. And I love writing about that beauty.”

Celia’s screenwriting is represented by Sam Greenwood at Curtis Brown
